The newest addition to the STX46 Softail family is the fully adjustable STX46 American V-Twin rear shock, designed for Harley-Davidson Softail models (2018-). It features a monotube, high gas-pressurized design, with the reservoir and preload adjuster side-mounted just below the rider's seat on the right side. A Harley-Davidson side cover (part no. 54000321) is required if one is not already installed, as it provides better clearance for the hoses. A black lid is included to cover the hole in this cover where the OE preload adjuster is located.
With fully adjustable damping, you can tailor the rebound and compression damping behavior of the shock to match your riding style. The side-mounted hydraulic preload adjuster allows for easy spring preload adjustments to compensate for changes in rider and cargo weight—no extra tools required.
